National Maritime Museum
Britannia Rules the Waves
The words ‘adventure’ and ‘danger’ often spring to mind when considering the world’s oceans; this is brought to life at the outstanding National Maritime Museum.
Your child will start by taking a guided boat down the river Thames during which they will be shown the historical and cultural sights which line its banks, before arriving at the National Maritime Museum. The exhibition has a fantastic blend of modern digital presentations and games, combined with a wealth of artefacts which allow children to fully immerse themselves in Britain’s proud naval history. Special focus will be on Horatio Nelson, one of Britain’s most notable naval commanders, who famously put a stop to Napoleon’s seafaring ambitions at Trafalgar in 1805.
Finally, it’s time to experience a ship first hand. Children will step aboard the Cutty Sark. This stunning example of a Victorian tea clipper allows children to understand the scale of engineering flourished during this ambitious period of European history.
A Clarendon Inspires mentor will arrive at the pick up address to give your children an Inspire session and drop your children off at the drop off address, where they will also give a Build session. Clarendon Inspires believes that it is important to invigorate the body, as well as the mind, so each Experience includes some activity time in the park (weather permitting).
Amazing! Our 2 boys had a brilliant day with their mentor. They took a boat down the river Thames before exploring the Maritime Museum and Cutty Sark. When they got home, they were excited and loaded with information.
