Will
Degree (University):
2nd Year Theology and Religion (Regent’s Park College, Oxford)
A levels (School):
History A*, English Literature A*, Religious Studies A (Eton College)
Bio:
I’m current studying Theology at Oxford. I’m interested in a wide range of stuff, and enjoy making the most of what London (I’ve lived there my whole life) has to offer, be it music, history, art, or anything else. I’m lucky enough to have had unique access to many of the city’s landmarks (including Number 10 and Parliament) as detailed in my CV, and I’d relish being able to talk about city history (and generally too) with this perspective.
I have firsthand experience with some exotic pets, and I’m passionate about animals and natural history generally: I’d love to be able to impart this on some young minds, particularly so with regards to the wildlife that can be found in open spaces around this country. I’ve always been fascinated by anything with an engine (my first word was car!), so I’ll leap at the opportunity to spend hours in the Imperial War or Science Museum, or at RAF Duxford, and so on.

Thomas
Degree (University):
Spanish, Portuguese and Hispanic History, 2nd year (Bristol)
A levels (School):
Spanish A, Italian A, Economics B, History B (Harrow School)
Bio:
The world that we live in today is one that is founded on hundreds of years of mistakes. This is why I believe that the study of history is crucial in shaping any young mind, eager to explore the depths of what the past has to offer.
Fully understanding history allows us to grasp how it is that the society we live in came to be. The past, creates the present and so, the future. Living in London offers any curious child the opportunity to unveil their interest. Be it the National Maritime Museum or the National Gallery. London allows every child to pursue their curiosities.

Sasha
Degree (University):
History and Economic, 1st year (Durham)
A levels (School):
Economics A*, History A*, Maths A* (Eton College)
Bio:
Hello, my name is Sasha! Having grown up in Windsor, I’ve been surrounded by historical sites and reminders of the past. That engagement from a young age partly contributed to my choice to study History at Durham University and I appreciate the importance of engaging and fulfilling experiences. Having spent a lot of my time in London during my Gap Year, I’ve come to appreciate and enjoy the endless opportunities in London, having visited Roman, Tudor and Georgian sites in London – the diversity of activities in London is personally unparalleled. Besides that, I have a keen interest in charity work, having cycled from London to Paris for Breast Cancer Now and also play tennis and squash for Durham.

Oliver
Degree (University):
Biochemistry, 2nd year (New College, Oxford)
A levels (School):
Physics A*, Chemistry A*, Biology A*, Maths A* (Westminster School)
Bio:
I am a Second Year undergraduate at Oxford University studying Biochemistry. Nothing is more exciting than starting off with a question about the world around us and searching for the answers. I found this out for myself when I created an experiment that measured vegetation levels which was then run on the International Space Station by Tim Peake!
London is the home of the Royal Society, the world’s oldest scientific institute, and has a rich history of scientific discovery. This, along with a huge number of museums dedicated to knowledge, makes it the perfect place to enthuse the next generation of scientists!

Krishan
Degree (University):
A levels (School):
Bio:
Hi, I’m Krishan Emmanuel, a second-year Classicist at Oxford University. One of the most attractive things about Classics is its interdisciplinary nature, and I’ve really enjoyed tapping into the connections between ancient philosophy and literature, as well as their reception in our own times. But my degree is also inviting because of its focus on language, which ties into another of my main interests, Far Eastern language and culture. I am currently studying Mandarin Chinese and am fluent in Japanese.
We don’t often get an opportunity in England to learn about cultures so geographically distant from our own, mostly because of the rigidity of school curricula, but I believe we still have plenty to learn from them (and that’s putting aside how relevant these languages also are in today’s interconnected society). I’ve been investing most of my remaining spare time in drama – I used to act at school, but in the last couple of years I have decided to switch sides and produce plays with my production company. Hopefully I will get to try my hand at writing and directing my own play in winter as well!

Jon
Degree (University):
2nd Year Politics (Durham University)
A levels (School):
Politics A, Religious Studies A, Russian A (Eton College)
Bio:
I am a second-year Politics undergraduate at Durham University, but I have lived in London for my entire life. It is unquestionably my favourite city in the world; its history and culture have made enormous contributions not just to Britain but to the world. Since taking up Politics as a subject my fascination with the city and its legacy has increased, and I hope to share the inspirational influence it has had on me with others. My interests include politics, history, art and literature.

Jacob
Degree (University):
Theology and Oriental Studies, 3rd year (Regent’s Park College, Oxford)
A levels (School):
History A*, RS A*, French A (Eton College)
Bio:
I’m Jacob, a third-year undergraduate at Oxford studying Theology and Oriental Studies, which means I mainly study Islam and Arabic, Hinduism, and Buddhism. I grew up in Kenya and learning for me was always about more than what could be done in the classroom – this background really instilled in me a strong sense of pursuing education out of school. Moving to London opened my eyes to the city’s unique cultural and historical heritage. The collections of the V&A and the British Museum are unrivaled – it’s incredible that we have such easy access to artefacts that are thousands of years old and of huge cultural significance. I think that allowing children to get a taste for the real, tangible aspects of history and religion can ignite a lifelong passion for learning and culture. I’m also interested in rugby, conservation and wildlife, and love Scuba diving and kitesurfing when I’m back in Kenya.

Ivo
Degree (University):
Biological Sciences, 1st year (St Anne’s College, Oxford)
A levels (School):
Biology A*, English literature A*, Chemistry A*, Maths A* (Eton College)
Bio:
I was lucky enough to be inspired by teachers, writers, presenters and one rampantly-adventurous aunt in a diversity of fields as I was growing up: most particularly, I have always been fascinated by the natural world. When I was young, this obsession had me trawling through the undergrowth, armed with Tupperware tubs, unearthing the local flora and fauna, and my curiosity has only flourished and expanded since then. I enjoy the chance to share what fascinates me with others, and to this end I have given many presentations on topics such as the discoveries of new endemic species in Mt Bosavi, to raise money for ecological charities.
I am now in my first year of studying Biological Sciences at Oxford University, where I’m extremely lucky to have access to institutions like the Natural History Museum. Every day after my lectures here, though, I see the listless trails of what should have been eager, budding geologists, paleo-botanists and astronauts passing through, uninspired. I would absolutely love to be able to inject some enthusiasm and excitement into what should be the highlights of the school term (field trips)! From the London Zoo, to the Science Museum, London would be the ideal place to tour these incredible subjects.

Davy
Degree (University):
English (Durham University, Hild Bede College)
A levels (School):
English A*, Latin A, Politics A (Eton College)
Bio:
I am a first year English student at Durham University and I’ve lived in London my whole life. Its a pleasure to breathe in its rich cultural diversity which continuously offers exciting new experiences. I’ve always looked to the city to keep myself busy – and have spent my early years exploring and writing articles on London’s theatre and exhibitions. Now, having formed firm interests that have both enhanced my academic studies and given me a love for the capital, I want to help young people capture the same passion I have.

Frank
Degree (University):
Computer Science and English Literature, 1st year (Colombia College)
A levels (School):
English A*, History A, Theology A (Eton College)
Bio:
My name is Frank Baring. I am 19 years old. I live in London but I go to university at Columbia in the City of New York, majoring in English Literature and Computer Science. I was educated in the UK at Eton College and the Dragon School. I am on the lightweight rowing team and also pursue creative writing at University.

Nathan
Degree (University):
History of Art 1st Class (St Catherine’s College, Oxford)
A levels (School):
History of Art A*, English A*, German A, Music Technology A (Haberdasher Askes)
Bio:
I am a recent graduate of Oxford University, receiving the Gibbs Prize for the highest average mark in BA History of Art. During my studies, I had the opportunity to discover and write about a wealth of fascinating culture, from Ming dynasty painting to the art of fifteenth-century Italy. Before beginning my studies in 2015, I was shortlisted for the Frieze Writer’s Prize for contemporary art criticism, and in 2017, I was awarded the Hart Prize by St Catherine’s College Oxford for the best essay on a historical subject. I am excited to be living back in London; with a world of art at my fingertips, there is always more to discover in the capital’s fantastic collections. I am interested in all manner of art, from the classical to the contemporary, and I am keen to share my enthusiasm for art with more young people.

Becky
Degree (University):
Natural Sciences 2:i (Selwyn College, Cambridge)
A levels (School):
Maths A*, Biology A*, Chemistry A* (Peter Symonds College)
Bio:
Science allows us to learn the truth about what’s happening all around and within us. We don’t take things at face value but ask “why”? I never stop being fascinated by learning about the human body as I study to be a doctor, from understanding why the heart beats to knowing what to do when it stops!
I moved to London two years ago to complete the hospital-based part of my degree. I thought that being in a place with such a diverse population would make me a more well-rounded doctor. I have since realised since that London is a fantastic place to pursue all branches of science. Where else would you find such a wealth of museums, gardens and even a zoo?! In London, you can learn about any topic imaginable in a fun and dynamic way.

Holly
Degree (University):
English Literature, 2:ii, (Clare College, Cambridge)
A levels (School):
English Literature A*, History A* and Classical Civilisations A* (The Weston Road Academy)
Bio:
I am a professional actor working in stage, screen and voice, based in London and represented by Esta Charkham Associates. I have been incredibly fortunate to work with amazing companies such as the BBC and Flute Theatre (The Bridge Theatre, The Orange Tree Theatre, The Bloomsbury Theatre). My formal training began at Drama Centre London in 2017 (with alumni including Colin Firth, Paul Bettany and Helen McCrory) and went on to include the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute in Moscow. However, my experience at the University of Cambridge (where I read English at Clare College) cemented my talent as an actor due to the vast quantity of theatre that gets made by the students. Over 3 three years, I was part of over 30 shows and went on to originate the role of Jane Seymour in Six the Musical. I am often called to sing, play piano, play clarinet, dance, fight or do an array of accents as part of my work. I believe fundamentally that an interest and involvement in theatre is an incredibly positive thing to give to young people and I teach drama weekly at WLDT in order to share this passion. For me, acting was not only the key to my future career, but it also boosted my confidence, social skills and fitness from 10 years of age, when I joined my local theatre group in Staffordshire.

Luke
Degree (University):
Philosophy, Politics & Economics, 1st Year (LSE)
A levels (School):
Economics A*, Maths A*, Further Maths A, Chemistry A (Eton College)
Bio:
I grew up in Devon and attended Eton College before travelling around the Middle East, and I now study PPE at the LSE. I’ve always loved the tough challenges inherent in Maths and as I grew up I became passionate about both Economics and Finance because of their use in applying Maths to situations of vital importance in the real world. I’d love to share this enthusiasm with others by exploring the history of trade in the U.K. (London being perfect given the Bank of England Museum, London Stock Exchange, all sights related to the Industrial Revolution etc.) and engaging in discussions relating interesting economic and financial concepts to ideas relatable and enjoyable for the students.

Fionn
Degree (University):
History of Art, 1st (St. Catharine’s College, Oxford)
A levels (School):
English Literature A*, History A*, Art A* (Wimbledon High School)
Bio:
I’m an MA History of Art Student at University College London, and completed my BA at the University of Oxford last year with a first, gaining the highest mark in the year for my dissertation on photography and post-colonialism. My experiences with History of Art have taught me how to look at the world in new ways, and I love sharing this enthusiasm with others. This is a subject which is not only about art; it incorporates philosophy, literature, architecture, anthropology and more. Having worked at a number of museums and private galleries, I am fascinated by the narratives which displays of objects create for the public. I have experience developing young persons’ museum programs, working with children and teenagers to look situate artworks in their historical context. There is no place like London for studying art, due to the range of amazing institutions we have access to.

Charlie
Degree (University):
Opera Singer, 2nd year (Guildhall School)
A levels (School):
Bio:
I am a first year singer at the Guildhall School and before that attended Eton College. I always remember talking to my grandmother about her experiences during the Blitz in World War II, as she lived through it herself and was evacuated to the country. This was really the initial trigger for my interest into the events surrounding the Second World War, and study on the years after the first and leading up to the Second at Eton further helped this interest to grow.
I would love the opportunity to further explore this and impart what I’ve learnt so far in interactive learning spaces like the museums we are lucky to have in London.

Magnus
Degree (University):
History of Art, 1st year (Courtauld Institute)
A levels (School):
History of Art A*, English Literature A*, French B
Bio:
I am a second-year undergraduate at the Courtauld. Its location is fantastic; major exhibitions and gallery collections are always within walking distance. Though I have lived in London all my life, it was only when my interest in art history came into fruition that I really began to take advantage of the city’s incredible wealth of art. From the National Gallery to the BFI, so much is on offer directly to young people. Besides Art History, my interests include English literature and psychology.

Annabelle
Degree (University):
History, 2nd year (Oxford University)
A levels (School):
Geography A*, History A, French A (Oundle School)
Bio:
My name is Annabelle and I have just completed a BA in History. History is a fantastic subject and London is an excellent city to explore historical events, trends, and patterns. As a capital city, it is full of important historical buildings and was home to a number of kings, queens, politicians, inventors, and playwrights to name a few. I also have a keen interest photography including travel, portraiture, film and event photography. I find exploring ways in which a single image can convey meaning and emotion a fun and challenging way to experience new places. Through photography you can really pay attention to your surroundings and London is again a great environment to do so given its diversity with regards to both settings and people.

Emma
Degree (University):
English Literature, 1st year (Durham University)
A levels (School):
English Literature A*, History of Art A*, Spanish A (Highgate)
Bio:
My fundamental passions are the arts – music, literature, sculpture, architecture and photography. I am incredibly fortunate to I have lived in London my whole life and could not be more grateful for the wealth of opportunity that this has facilitated. The museums and art galleries are unparalleled and week on week there is a new unmissable exhibition to attend with my favourites being the two Tate galleries and White Cube Bermondsey. It is so easy to miss engaging with the history and beauty that we are constantly surrounded by – an instance of this would be Oxford Street – the Neoclassical architecture is entirely overlooked, not to mention the Hepworth sculpture on the façade of John Lewis. I would love to share these passions with children as I wish I had appreciated them at an earlier age – it was only during my Art GCSE that I realised what I had been missing.

Will S.
Degree (University):
2nd Year Biological Natural Sciences (St John’s College, Cambridge)
A levels (School):
