Imperial War Museum: The First and Second World Wars
George’s ability to utilise artefacts and imagery alongside his own historical understanding results in a genuinely fascinating Experience that your children will love.
About the Experience
This Experience will be led by George, a Cambridge University History graduate. He will guide your child round a hand picked selection of artefacts to spark their interest in WW1 and WW2.
At the end of the Experience your child will have learnt about the causes of both wars and understand what it was like to live through them, both as a solider and a civilian – all whilst having fun and cultivating a love for learning.
What caused the First and Second World Wars?
With global geopolitics as combustible as they have been in some time, it is essential to learn about how the global wars of the twentieth century begun. George will utilise artefacts and imagery at the museum to furnish your child with a clear timeline of what caused the First and Second World Wars.
What was it like to live through the wars, as a soldier and civilian?
From life in the trenches to the Home Front, George will help your child to understand what life was like for both civilians and soldiers.
How were the wars won?
George will guide your child through a selection of artefacts and sections of exhibitions detailing how the wars were won. Your child will discover everything from espionage to rationing, submarines to trench warfare.

Bio: I have loved storytelling from a very young age- it is a big part of why I love history: learning about the stories, characters, and lessons of the past can be incredibly enlightening and, maybe more than anything, entertaining. London has some of the best museums in the world, and I would relish the opportunity to explore these amazing cultural sites with younger people – hopefully they will find the stories within them just as exciting and fascinating as I do!
